Fin Fetchers Outfitting offers full service guided fly fishing trips on Montana’s famous rivers. We fish and float the most beautiful trout infested waters Montana has to offer. The Missouri, Dearborn, and Sun Rivers are all on the FFO operation plan. FFO is based out of Great Falls, Montana. Great Falls is located in Central Montana between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks at the confluence of the Missouri and Sun Rivers.  Great Falls is home to such attractions as the Charlie Russell Museum, Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, and, of course, we are on the Missouri River which is one of the finest dry fly fisheries in the United States. The best fly fishing begins about 20 minutes from Great Falls!

Finfetcher Guide Staff

Brian Neilsen

I was born in Bozeman and raised in Great Falls.  I have been guiding fly fisherman for seventeen years on The Missouri, Blackfoot, Smith and many other rivers and plan on guiding/outfitting for many more. I navigate a RO drift boat to work as hard as I can to get anglers into fish.  I consider myself young and experienced.  I try not to take myself too seriously and keep the sport fresh and fun.  I fell in love with fishing very early.  At the ripe old age of age of three I began wandering the banks of the Missouri River with my dad in search of Browns and Rainbows.  I used everything from night crawlers to Rapalas to salmon eggs.  Somewhere around eleven or twelve I became a “fly fisherman.”   Since then I have developed the odd habits of flipping over rocks in the river, staring at tiny insects, becoming bird dog excited seeing dimples on the water, and other bizarre, incurable habits that come with being a fly fisherman. My incredibly wonderful and understanding wife, Shannon, my daughter Margo, our dogs and I live, laugh and embrace all that Montana has to offer in Great Falls, Montana.  Come fishing with us, you won't be dissapointed.

At the age of two, I captured my first Bluegill in Southern Michigan. Since then, I have never stopped looking into waters for fish. I spent my early years fishing in Wisconsin and Canada for both warm and coldwater species. It was a tossup between trout and salmon or the mighty muskie, until I graduated from college. Then I was drawn north to wild native fish in the largely pristine ecosystems of Alaska.

Guiding anglers and spending the fishing season outdoors in Alaska has been my passion since 1989. Years of guiding have taught me the techniques necessary to make your fishing trip experience educational and productive. I can honestly say that I am one of the first dedicated fly fishing drift boat guides to work the Kenai River. In 2006, I was honored with induction into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame as a Legendary Guide. You can expect top-notch service and 100% effort on every trip. I love sharing the Kenai River and now the Missouri River here in Montana as well with my guests. Having fun and making your angling dreams come true is my goal.

Finfetchers welcomes both experienced and novice anglers. I leaned to fish with conventional tackle, but soon developed into a passionate fly-fisherman. I can customize your fishing trip whether your experience is with fly-fishing or not. If you are interested in learning to fly-fish, do not be intimidated. It is fun and you can learn to catch fish in a very short time. Teaching anglers something new and sharing in their success is one of a guide’s great rewards.

My wife Erin, daughter Keeli, and son Kyle join me. They are supportive of my choice of profession and manage to get on the water with me occasionally. Erin likes to fly-fish for trout and wrestle powerful salmon. Keeli landed a 20# King Salmon at the age of four and is now learning to row and put her dad on fish. Our son Kyle loves to go fishing and collecting aquatic life. He is learning to manage a fly rod and has put salmon on the table and trout to the hand. His favorite part of fishing is releasing the catch.

Kris Keller

Kris grew up fishing the waters surrounding Dillon, Montana including the Beaverhead, Big Hole, Ruby, and other surrounding water.  The nickname "KK" has stuck and he has become an accomplished fly tyer and fishermen in his young age.  He has worked for Frontier Anglers in Dillon, Winston Fly Rods out of Twin Bridges, Crosscurrents Fly Shop in Helena and now the Big R Fly Shop in Great Falls, MT.  He is a signature fly tyer for Montana Fly Company and has even helped work in their factories in Thailand teaching employees how to properly tie trout flies.  He has become known for his creative patterns and names to go with them including the Montana Mouthwash, Boatlaunch Creep, Sleezeburger, Good Night, and a Late Night with Wanda.

Kris has been guiding clients for a number of years now and has grown in popularity due to his "fishiness."  Kris has been fishing the Missouri and it's tributaries hard since he moved here and has landed more large brown trout than most who have lived here their whole lives.  KK will work hard in the boat for his clients and make sure they have a great day out on the water.
