The GWG stands for Grey Winged Grey and was developed as a baetis pattern by Big R Fly Shop’s Sam Wike. It was pointed out last fall by friend Bruce Berry that most of the fall baetis on the Missouri didn’t really look that olive; they looked grey on the bottom and that’s what the fish see. This is the cripple that we developed since then called the GWG to replace the standard BWO.
