Fuller's Turducken

Calvin ties his Turducken emerger at the Big R Fly Shop in Ponderay. So called due to its use of turkey, duck, and chicken materials. This fly can be used as a pale morning dun or baetis depending on the thread colors you choose.

Materials:
• Hook: TMC 102Y size 17 or 19
• Thread: UTC 70 chartreuse
• Tan CDC
• Small amber Ultra Wire
• Turkey feather
• Mallard flank
• Cream dry fly hackle

D-Bise's Damsel Fly Nymph

Dustin Bise is back on the vise this week tying up his damsel fly nymph. He fishes it on still water underneath an indicator, preferably when there's a light chop on the surface as it dead drifts with the wind.

Materials:
• Dai Riki 4660 Jig Head Hook, size 8
• Red or Brown Tungsten Bead
• Legs & Tail: Pheasant Rump
• Body: Hare's Ear Dubbing in Insect Green
• Rib: 20# Maxima Ultra Green

Telleen's Spring Breaker Leeth

Fred Telleen ties up his Spring Breaker Ice Out Leech. With a plummeting bead, jig hook and flat head pin combination, this fly is balanced perfectly horizontal when dropped straight down from a float tube or boat.

Streek's Parachute Caddis Variant

Neale Streeks joins the Missouri River Flyfishers as our guest tyer in March. He puts together a tried and tested variation of a parachute caddis.

Fuller's Crazy Charlie Variant

Calvin from the Ponderay Fly Shop is back on the vise in this month's Creature Feature with a salty little nibble called the Crazy Charlie. This fly's namesake and creator is none other than legendary Bahamian fly fishing guide, Charlie Smith (see "the guy who defined fly fishing in the Bahamas").

Telleen's Bitch Creek Variant

Fred Telleen from Big R Fly Shop in Great Falls, MT ties up his rendition of the popular Bitch Creek fly. In Fred's interpretation he uses black saddle hackle and chartreuse underbody and rubber legs.

Spirit River UV2 Scud

Fred Telleen ties a typical scud pattern using the new UV2 dubbing from Spirit River. Under a UV light, this bug glows with bioluminescence!

Telleen's Flash Bang Streamer

This week Fred Telleen from the Big R Fly Shop in Great Falls ties up a bright little pattern that really gets a fish's attention called the Flash Bang. Strip it slow in the winter, retrieve it fast in the summer.

Bise's Blue Nymph

Dustin Bise is on the vise this week tying up his blue nymph. A combination of prince nymph and czech nymph characteristics, this fly is an all around good variation in blue.

Telleen's Bruise

The use of Spirit River's new UV2 tying materials makes this pattern even more of a bruiser in the fly tying world. Fred likes to chase King Salmon on the fly in Alaska and when he does, he uses the Bruise. This purple haze variant is an attractor dry fly pattern designed to imitate a variety of mayflies.
